Bio

Lee Germon is a former New Zealand International Cricketer, wicket-keeper, and captain, who is currently a senior cricket administrator. He was appointed as New Zealand’s captain on his Test debut in October 1995 and captained the team in all of his 12 Tests and all but one of his 37 One Day Internationals. Germon honed his leadership skills at the provincial level with Canterbury Cricket, where he debuted at age 19 and was made captain at 22.

Currently, Germon serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Cricket New South Wales (NSW), a position he has held since January 4, 2019. Prior to this role, he was the General Manager of the Sydney Thunder, one of the eight clubs in the KFC Big Bash League, for a year and eight months. In that role, he was responsible for leading the club in key areas such as community engagement, fan engagement, commercial success, attendance, and performance.

In 2004, Germon served as CEO of Mainland Soccer for a brief 10-month period before moving to Nelson to become CEO of the Tasman Rugby Union from September 2005 to March 2008. Germon’s longest and most influential tenure came as CEO of Canterbury Cricket for over nine years, from March 2008 to July 2017. During his time at Canterbury Cricket, he faced several challenges, including converting Hagley Oval in Christchurch to an international venue after the devastating earthquake of 2011. He completed the Hagley Oval Project, and the venue hosted the inaugural game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

Germon started his corporate career in sales in regional television and later moved to account managing agencies. He holds a commerce degree in leadership from the University of Canterbury.
