Cricket Ireland
Cricket Ireland, officially known as The Irish Cricket Union Company Limited by Guarantee, is the governing body for cricket on the island of Ireland. It oversees the national men's and women's teams and organizes the Inter-Provincial Series, Super 3s, and All-Ireland club competitions. Ireland achieved Test status for women in 2000 and for men in 2017 when it became a Full Member of the ICC.

Ireland Men are currently in Essex for a crucial three-match One-Day international series against Bangladesh. Should Ireland win the series 3-0 they could qualify automatically for the 2023 Cricket World Cup to be held in India later this year.

However, Ireland would also need to improve their net run rate to overhaul South Africa for that final automatic spot.

If Ireland fail to win the series 3-0, they will be faced with a trip to the qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe in June, joining the likes of Sri Lanka, West Indies, Scotland and hosts Zimbabwe for the two remaining places in the World Cup.

All three matches will be played at the Cloud County Ground in Chelmsford, Essex.

Here’s all you need to know to follow the series….

In 13 previous ODI meetings, Ireland has won just two times – at the World Cup in 2007, and in 2010 when Ireland won by 7 wickets in Belfast (William Porterfield top-scored with 108, with Paul Stirling scoring 52, Boyd Rankin also took 3-43 with the ball in that game).

A scheduled three-match ODI series due to be held in Belfast in 2020 was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
