Cricket Namibia is thrilled to announce that five players from the Richelieu Eagles have been drafted in the GT20 series in Canada.
Among the Namibian players who have secured their spots in the GT20 Canada are skipper Gerhard Erasmus and vice-captain JJ Smit, who will be representing the Toronto Nationals.
Smit is set to make his return to the field after being out with a knee injury since the year started.
Additionally, all-rounder Bernard Scholtz has been drafted to the Surrey Jaguars while The Vancouver Knights will witness the impressive talents of Ruben Trumpelmann.
Trumpelmann will share the field with renowned South African cricketers Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks.
Jan Frylinck’s inclusion in the Bampton Wolves adds another exciting chapter to the story of Namibian cricket’s global expansion.
The GT20 Canada tournament will witness six Franchises competing, each comprising a total of sixteen players from Full and Associate Member nations.
Over the course of the 18 days, these teams will engage in 25 matches, promising thrilling displays of cricketing excellence.
The Global T20 series has a rich history of featuring cricketing legends, such as Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, David Warner and others.
Cricket Namibia extends its congratulations to the Richelieu Eagles players on their remarkable achievement and wishes them the best of luck in the GT20 Canada tournament.
The tournament will take place at the prestigious Brampton Sports Park from July 20 to August 6 2023.
