Two of the state’s brightest up-and-coming female players, NSW Breakers Jade Allen and Claire Moore, have departed for the UK as part of a Cricket NSW funded three-week player development trip.

This exciting opportunity marks the duo’s first journey to England, and second international cricketing experience this year, having represented Australia at the 2023 U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in January.

Allen and Moore will participate in scheduled training and match-day experiences at Lancashire Cricket Club, as well as conduct physical strength and conditioning sessions using the venue’s facilities.

Cricket NSW prides itself on player development. By facilitating opportunities like this, Cricket NSW can not only progress their athletes into becoming world-class cricketers, but also confident and capable individuals.

Leah Poulton, Head of Female Elite Cricket at Cricket NSW, said the pair are in for an incredible trip that will provide valuable learnings, and create unforgettable memories.

“Claire and Jade have been identified as high-potential players after earning national selection earlier in the year,” Poulton said.

“Their upcoming journey will be of great benefit to both skill and personal development, and will provide them with invaluable life experiences, especially considering it’s their first visit to the UK.

“We are excited to hear about their learnings, and equally as eager to see where they venture on their rest days. I know our junior female pathway squads will also be keen to hear about their trip and inspire their own development journeys.

“We are also very thankful to Lancashire Cricket for helping us provide this wonderful experience for Claire and Jade.”

Both Allen and Moore have expressed delight and appreciation for the opportunity, recognising the chance to enhance their cricketing abilities while exploring a new country.

“Having the chance to experience different conditions and different pitches overseas, and bowling to new batters is exciting,” Allen said.

“I’m also really looking forward to travelling. Cricket is going to be awesome, but I haven’t been to Europe before so to have the chance to head to Paris on one of our weekends off will be pretty cool.

“I want to come back with more experience and learnings from new coaches. I’m going to make new friends and create lots of memories.”

“I know we’ll be training and playing with the [Lancashire] Thunder squad, which is similar to the domestic level here, so that will be good,” Moore said.

“I think this is a great opportunity for Jade and I to experience new things, get out of our comfort zone, face different players in a different country, and get different opinions from different coaches which will help us grow.

“I have a few friends over there that I met at the World Cup in South Africa, so I’m really excited to meet up with them again.”

Cricket NSW wishes the pair a safe and successful trip. Stay tuned to our socials over the next three weeks to see how Jade and Claire are making the most of the experience.
