WBBL|08 Champions Adelaide Strikers will return to Adelaide Oval in Weber WBBL|09, with a huge clash against Perth Scorchers at the iconic venue on Friday 24 November a highlight of the full season fixture released today by Cricket Australia.
The Strikers last played at Adelaide Oval in the WBBL|07 Finals series, securing back-to-back dominant victories against Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades to progress to the decider in Perth.
In defence of their maiden Weber WBBL Championship, the Strikers welcome Melbourne Stars to Karen Rolton Oval to begin the season, with fans able to get their photo taken with the trophy at the game in celebration of the historic triumph last summer.
Fans will be eagerly marking down Saturday 18 November as the Grand Final rematch against Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval, the venue of the Strikers ultimate triumph last season.
On the road, the Strikers will take part in double headers at CitiPower Centre in Melbourne and the WACA in Perth, as well as facing Hobart Hurricanes at the Sydney Cricket Ground to complete the regular season.
Strikers Head Coach Luke Williams is thrilled to have some dates to circle on the calendar as Adelaide look to defend their maiden WBBL title.
“It is amazing to be the reigning Champions in this incredible competition, and we can’t wait to get back out there and attempt to repeat the feat,” Williams said.
“We are particularly excited to be back at Adelaide Oval this season, with our clash against Perth Scorchers sure to be a real highlight at what I believe to be one of the greatest sporting arenas in the world. We have had great success at Adelaide Oval in the past and we certainly hope that continues.
“Every team in this tournament is world-class and with everyone starting back at zero come October, we look forward to embracing the challenge.”
This season will see the inaugural WBBL Overseas Player Draft, a chance for Clubs to battle it out to secure signatures from the world’s best players. A lottery will be held to determine the Clubs selection order, with results to be announced next week.
Championship players Jemma Barsby and Amanda-Jade Wellington have both recommitted to the Strikers in recent weeks, with more players to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Tickets for Weber WBBL|09 matches will be available on August 24.
