Sydney Thunder rising star Ollie Davies is set to extend his stay in Western Sydney, committing for a further two years with the club.

Already signed for the upcoming KFC BBL|13 season, Davies will now remain at the club until at least the end of BBL|15.

The club’s leading run-scorer last summer with 333 runs under his belt, Davies proved one of the competition’s most consistent bats, cementing his place in the top-order.

Joining the club in BBL|10, Davies made his debut against the Perth Scorchers, notching 36 (from 22) in a 7-wicket victory for the Thunder.

Making his Marsh One-Day Cup debut for NSW in February 2021, the right-hander has continued to push his case at the domestic level, making his first-class debut for the Blues earlier this year.

With 30 Big Bash appearances and 491 runs now to his name, the 22-year-old is determined to build upon his breakout summer.

“I’m stoked to extend with the club for another two years. I’m loving my time at the Thunder and have a great group of mates here.” Davies said.

“I think as a group we’ve shown what we’re capable of. I have huge faith in our squad and have no doubt that we’ll be pushing for the finals again this season.”

Head of Sydney Thunder, Andrew Gilchrist said securing the young gun was a priority for the club ahead of this season.

“We’re thrilled to have secured Ollie’s services for an additional two years. He’s a clear talent and someone we were keen to get locked away.

“We saw last season what he is capable of in this competition, and we know that our Thunder fans love watching him play.

“Ollie is someone that we see at our club long-term, and he’s an important piece of the future for Sydney Thunder.”
