  • August Teams of the Month announced using PCA MVP Rankings, powered by Argentex
  • Marizanne Kapp captain women’s side having scored 131.36 MVP points
  • Warwickshire all-rounder Ed Barnard skippers men’s team after earning 180.56 points

The PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings has decided the teams of the month in domestic men’s and women’s cricket for the month of August.

Using the MVP’s unique algorithm, both elevens have been selected by picking out the game’s top performers across every single domestic fixture in the month.

The PCA’s MVP system, powered by Argentex, works by comparing a player’s accomplishments against the expected performance for that game. Runs and wickets achieved at each ground are also considered and compared to the average. Enabling players to score or lose MVP points on every ball through CricViz’s extensive historical database, the rankings is a true reflection of performance.

The teams have been selected to create a well-balanced side, so that it’s not just the best 11 cricketers according to MVP points. This means players such as Chris Jordan are unfortunate to miss out due to the good form of fellow all-rounders Wiaan Mulder and Liam Dawson.

In the men’s game, the month saw the culmination of The Hundred, won by the Oval Invincibles, alongside the group and knock-out stages of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Warwickshire all-rounder Ed Barnard had a phenomenal month earning 180.56 MVP points thanks to leading the run scoring on 616 runs in the One Day Cup. The 27-year-old achieved an incredible four Match MVP awards during the month claiming 33 points for his 161 off 152 balls against Durham.

Wiaan Mulder enjoyed an outstanding month earning 123.46 MVP points with his unbeaten 55 and 3-38 against Gloucestershire helping to propel Leicestershire into the final of the One Day Cup.

Andy Umeed impressed with 120.27 points thanks to scoring three hundreds including a career best of 172 not out against Derbyshire earning him 29 points. Manchester Originals all-rounder Jamie Overton earned 114.55 MVP points and was crowned The Hundred Men’s Player of the Year.

In the women’s game, Oval Invincibles all-rounder Marizanne Kapp won The Hundred Women’s Player of the Year award thanks to a massive 131.36 MVP points and therefore captains the side having scored the most points in August.

Georgia Adams impressed in the 100-ball format with 126.77 MVP points as Southern Brave beat Northern Superchargers by 34 runs at Lord’s in the final. The 29-year-old took the most wickets in the competition with 16 dismissals and earned two Match MVP awards.

Playing as a batter didn’t slow down Nat Sciver-Brunt’s points scoring having amassed 114.61 during August. The 31-year-old won two Match MVP awards earning a massive 51 points for her unbeaten 81 off 41 balls against London Spirit as Trent Rockets won by five wickets.
