The Proteas squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s 50 Over World Cup in India has been announced with Hollywoodbets Dolphins icons Keshav Maharaj and David Miller in the squad.

Miller has been a stalwart in the Proteas white ball set-up and will be representing the national side for the third time at a 50 over World Cup and will be a crucial member of the Proteas squad.

With 155 ODI caps and nearly 4000 runs in the format, Miller’s role in the Proteas middle order will be an important focus for the tournament that gets underway in October.

Maharaj’s journey to selection has been one of hard work and dedication following his devastating Achilles injury in March.

The spinning all-rounder was in doubt for the World Cup but has made a full recovery and featured in the T20 series against Australia as his first international cricket since his injury.

Maharaj’s ODI career is starting to take shape and he has become a crucial member of the squad which has also meant he has captained the ODI side.

“We are proud to have players representing South Africa on the biggest stage and we wish them all the best,” president of KZN Cricket Yunus Bobat said.

“David Miller and Keshav Maharaj have become crucial members of the 50 over side and they will play important roles for the national side.

“Good luck to Temba Bavuma and Rob Walter and the Proteas squad for the upcoming competition.”

CEO of Hollywoodbets Dolphins Heinrich Strydom is excited to see Dolphins players in national teams at major tournaments.

“Dave and Keshav are two of the most iconic cricketers in South Africa,” Strydom said.

“They are incredibly hard workers, and we are proud of what they have achieved and wish them and the Proteas squad the best of luck at the tournament.”

South Africa play Sri Lanka in their tournament opener on 7 October in Delhi.
