Sri Lanka Cricket presents Rs.5 million to Percy towards his health and wellbeing

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

Sri Lanka Cricket presented Rs. 5 million to Mr. Percy Abeysekera, Sri Lanka’s legendary cheerleader on the cricket field.

This donation was made to Mr. Abeysekera to support his wellbeing and maintenance of good health.
The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, headed by Mr. Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket.

“Percy’s contribution to the game of cricket in Sri Lanka as a cheerleader is immeasurable, and he has been a tower of strength for the players and to the game as a whole, and it was our turn to give back and look into his wellbeing,” said Mr. Mohan de Silva, Honorary Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket.

The donation was handed over to Mr. Abeysekera by the Honorary Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, Mr. Mohan De Silva, when he visited Percy’s house on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket to inquire about his health and wellbeing.
