Sydney Thunder have locked in NSW Breaker’s duo Claire Moore and Ebony Hoskin with the rising stars securing spots in the squad for Weber WBBL|09.

The pair bring an abundance of energy and talent to the squad, keeping their teammates on their toes both on and off the pitch.

Moore had a brilliant start to 2023, featuring in Australia’s Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup team back in January. The batter top scored with 52 against Bangladesh and threw in many helpful performances to contribute to the team’s semi-final finish.

She joins the squad having had a stint at the Sydney Sixers, now keen to get going and learn from two of the world’s best in Thunder’s international signings Marizanne Kapp and Heather Knight.

Moore shares her thoughts on the summer ahead:

“Yes Thunder Nation! I’m hyped to be representing Thunder this year in WBBL|09. I had a great time at the Under-19s World Cup earlier this year and I’ve been training really hard over the winter in preparation.

“I can’t wait to share the field with some absolute legends of the game like Kappy [Marizanne Kapp] and Heather [Knight] and soak up as much as I can.”

Fast bowler, Hoskin, also joins the side with her first Weber WBBL contract at just 20 years of age.

Quite the change from her country upbringing, Howlong’s Hoskin made her way through the NSW pathway system before debuting for the Breakers back in September 2022.

Often rattling the opposition, she served her career best against Queensland – 10 overs, 3 wickets for just 39 runs.

Hoskin speaking on her call up:

“I’m super excited to spend the summer with Sydney Thunder! I’ve been working hard this winter to really sharpen my skills and build out my game – I can’t wait to bring them to the field with this group.

“I grew up watching Thunder with my endlessly supportive family so I can’t begin to explain the pride I will feel when putting on the lime green. I’m ready to smash it!”

The exciting pair are set to take the stage on Sunday, October 22 as the team take on local rivals, the Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval. Get your tickets HERE.
