Aggressive, fearless, attacking and competitive.
That’s how new Striker Danielle Gibson describes her playing style, which means Strikers fans have a lot to look forward to in WBBL|09.
The English all-rounder was drafted by the Strikers in the inaugural WBBL Draft and it will mark the first time Gibson has played in Australia.
It has been a big few months for Gibson, who made her international debut in July, representing England in the Ashes in three T20I matches before playing another three against Sri Lanka.
She’s also recently played in The Hundred for London Spirit, hitting at a strike-rate of 152.28.
Being picked to play in her first Big Bash is just the cherry on top.
“It was really exciting, I woke up to it on my phone and I was just buzzing,” Gibson said.
“I had a few messages from family and friends and it’s just pretty cool to be able to go play in this tournament in Australia.
“I’ve been playing T20 a lot this year, so hopefully I’ll go over there and keep playing like I’ve been playing.”
Gibson will be linking up with a former London Spirit teammate at the Strikers – Megan Schutt.
“Megan’s a cool person to have around a team, I learned the odd thing with bowling from her so I’m glad to be back in her team,” she said.
“But otherwise I’m going to get to meet a whole new group of people, which is cool.
“I’ve always wanted to be in the Big Bash, so for it now to come true and be able to go to Adelaide, explore Adelaide, meet new people and play cricket – it’s just really exciting.”
