The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the governing body for cricket in Afghanistan. It joined the ICC in 2001, became an associate member in 2013, and a full member in 2017. The ACB is also part of the Asian Cricket Council.

Afghanistan Cricket Board’s national selection committee has finalized squads for the five regional teams featuring in the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional List A Tournament 2023, starting October 26 in Nangarhar Province.

Ihsanullah Janat, Samiullah Shinwari, Yamin Ahmadzai, Nasir Jamal and Abdul Malik will lead the Mis-e-Ainak, Speenghar, Bost, Band-e-Amir and Amo regional teams respectively in the 23-day-long Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament 2023, in which each team will play the others twice in a double-round robin format followed by a final on November 17.

Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional List A Tournament Squads:

Mis-e-Ainak Region: Ihsanullah Janat (C), Shahidullah Kamal (VC), Yousuf Shah (WK), Asghar Atal, Rahmanullah Zadran, Barakatullah Ibrahimzai, Naseer Ahmad, Abdul Majeed, Khalid Zahidi, Zahir Khan, Zia Ur Rehman Akbar, Khalil Gurbaz, Dawlat Zadran, Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi, Naveed Zadran, Samiullah Sarmast and Kamran Hotak.

Reserves: Mohibullah Zurmati, Rahim Mangal, Sabir Gurbaz and Sayed Khan.

Speenghar Region: Samiullah Shinwari (C), Mohammad Shahzad (VC), Dil Agha, Zubaid Akbari, Akbar Musazai, Baheer Shah, Barikzai Nasiri, Ismat Alam, Shawkat Zaman, Tahir Adil, Qais Ahmad, Javed Sayedi, Aftab Alam, Mohammad Ibrahim Abdulrahimzai, Wafadar Momand, Abdullah Ahmadzai and Irshaduddin Safi.

Reserves: Bilal Sayedi, Sohail Khan and Arab Gul Momand.

Bost Region: Yamin Ahmadzai (C), Noor Ali Zadran (VC), Ahmad Zahir (WK), Mohammad Ihsaq Rahimi (WK), Hazratullah Zazai, Nasib Shirdali, Bilal Ahmad Tarin, Darwish Rasooli, Javed Sulimankhil, Nangyal Kharoti, Shams Ur Rahman, Abdul Baqi, Naveed Zabuli, Sayed Ahmad Shirzad, Yousuf Zazai, Lal Baz and Noman Shah.

Reserves: Dastagir Khan, Qudratullah Kakar, Ahmad Zia Zaland and Farhad Usmani.

Band-e-Amir Region: Nasir Jamal (C), Karim Jannat (VC), Afsar Zazai (WK), Sediqullah Atal, Shabir Noori, Naveed Obaid, Nisar Wahdat, Asif Musazai, Khalid Ahmadzai, Farmanullah Safi, Irfanullah Safi, Izharulhaq Naveed, Mohammadullah Logari, Nijat Masoud, Sami Bilal, Mohammadullah Hamkar and Mohammad Haroon. 

Reserves: Islam Zazai, Babar Khan, Ismat Habibi and Bahar Ali Shinwari

Amo Region: Abdul Malik (C), Hayatullah Nasiri (VC), Abdul Hadi (WK), Imran Mir, Javed Ahmadzai, Juma Gul, Ijaz Ahmad Mehri, Allah Noor, Murad Ali, Abdul Wasi, Zohaib Khan, Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai, Mohammad Saleem Safi, Mohammad Gul, Kamil Kakar, Niamat and Noman Momand.

Reserves: Nasratullah Khan, Jamshid Khan and Khair Mohammad.

The defending champions, Mis-e-Ainak Region, will take on the Amo region in the opening match on October 26. The other three participating teams are Speenghar, Band-e-Amir, and Bost. A total of 21 games will be played across 23 days, with the final scheduled for November 17.

All five teams in the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional List A Tournament 2023 will feature the available national-level players competing against each other, promoting young and emerging players.

The tournament is a major part of the domestic cricket structure and contributes to the players’ and game development in Afghanistan. It is the second List A event of the year after the Green Afghanistan One Day Cup, held in May this year.
