Cricket Australia (CA), formerly the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for cricket in Australia. Established in 1905 as the Australian Board of Control for International Cricket, CA manages all national teams, including Men's, Women's, and Youth sides, as well as other national teams. It oversees the organization of Test matches, ODIs, and T20Is, and coordinates home international fixtures.

The Weber WBBL|09 season is set to kick off tonight as the Sydney Sixers take on the Melbourne Stars at North Sydney Oval. 

This year’s Weber WBBL season promises to be one of the biggest yet, with teams playing more matches in their home markets than ever before across 45 action-packed days. View the full schedule here

The world’s best T20 players are set to take the field this season including cricket superstars Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry, Tahlia McGrath, Hayley Matthews, Sophie Devine, Ameilia Kerr and Shabnim Ismail. The inaugural Overseas Player Draft has already created plenty of buzz, with superstar Marizanne Kapp wearing new colours this season, joining the Sydney Thunder in their campaign for the WBBL|09 Championship Trophy. 

The regular season will culminate in a blockbuster Stadium Series, with five matches being played across three iconic venues: Adelaide Oval, the MCG and the SCG. 

Weber WBBL|09 key season dates

Woolworths Cricket Blast Round: Monday, October 30 – Sunday, November 5

Women & Girls Week: Monday, November 20 – Sunday, November 26

Weber WBBL Stadium Series: Friday, November 24 – Sunday, November 26

Weber WBBL|09 Finals Series: Monday, November 27 – Saturday, December 2

The Big Bash League and Clubs will once again reaffirm their commitment to deepening meaningful connections with Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, through dedicated matches celebrating the First Nations and Traditional Owners of the land. Further details will be shared in the coming weeks. 

Seven Network will broadcast 24 matches across the season, including all three finals, with Foxtel and Kayo to show all 59 matches live.

Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Big Bash Leagues, said: 

“The Weber WBBL is one of the world’s best leagues, and we are extremely excited for the season to get underway at North Sydney Oval this evening.

“All the Clubs have pulled together very strong sides this season and we have no doubt there will be some fierce competition for the Weber WBBL|09 Championship Trophy. 

“The Stadium Series weekend is set to be a highlight of the season. The WBBL has long been the world’s leading cricket league for women and it continues to grow this season with the best players in the world playing in the best cricket venues in the world. 

“Ahead of the first ball, we wish all the Clubs luck for the season ahead and extend our thanks to our partners; broadcast partners Seven, Foxtel, Kayo and SEN; League partners Weber, Toyota and BKT; plus venues and governments, for their ongoing support.”
