Electronic music sensation Young Franco will light up the SCG later this month when he performs two sets as part of the WBBL Sydney Smash between the Sydney Sixers and archrival Sydney Thunder on November 26.
Young Franco will share centre stage with cricket superstars Ellyse Perry, Ash Gardner and Phoebe Litchfield for the double-header that will feature an entrée between the Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes before the two Sydney rivals square off for the main course.
The seasoned Australian producer will perform a set prior to the second match and return at the innings break in what is shaping as one of the ‘can’t miss’ highlights of Sydney’s summer.
Young Franco’s vibrant and infectious mix of dance, pop, and electronic music is certain to bring feel-good beats and an energetic performance style that is guaranteed to keep the SCG crowd moving, with the young entertainer saying he was pumped to be part of the day.
“I’m stoked to be playing at the SCG as part of the WBBL Stadium Series,” he said.
“This iconic ground holds a rich history, and I can’t wait to bring energy and passion to the stage for this amazing event. Let’s go Sixers!”
The SCG matches will mark the first time standalone WBBL matches have been played on the iconic ground and the WBBL’s all-time crowd record of 15,511 set at Optus Stadium is under threat.
Sydney Sixers’ star allrounder Erin Burns, who was part of Australia’s triumphant ICC Women’s T20 World Cup winning squad at the MCG in 2020 and shared the stage with her teammates and Katy Perry said cricket and music were the perfect mix.
“Premium sporting events like the Sydney Smash at the SCG go hand in hand with top music acts and I will never forget the experience of being on stage with Katy Perry less than an hour after the World Cup final and looking back at the crowd and thinking, ‘how good is this’,” Burns said.
“I know I will be preparing for the match, but I will definitely sneak in a little look at Young Franco to get into the moment and enjoy the experience.”
Along with the pair of WBBL blockbusters and Young Franco, fans will be able to enjoy the Sixers Fan Zone on Driver Avenue, an ‘Ice Cream Happy Hour’, culinary delights from Merivale and heaps of giveaways.
