Dynamic and inspiring athletes from the world of cricket and football have unveiled Urban Blues, the home and away kits of Multan Sultans for the HBL Pakistan Super League 9. Twenty-year-old all-round cricketer Fatima Sana and 28-year-old left-wing footballer Otis Khan, the Multan Sultans brand ambassadors, introduced the dazzling apparel in a riveting video released through Multan Sultans official digital channels today.
Fatima unveiled the home kit, which the Sultans will don in their tournament opener on 18 February against Karachi Kings at the Sultans Fort (Multan Cricket Stadium).
The young cricketer recently captained Pakistan in New Zealand and she has emerged into an exciting all-rounder since her international debut in 2019. She is also the first Pakistan woman cricketer to bag an ICC award, a feat she achieved upon being named ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year for the year 2021.
Otis unveiled Sultans’ away kit. Since donning Pakistan colours in the recent World Cup qualifiers, Otis has become one of the most recognisable football players in the country. He has made eight appearances for Pakistan since his international debut in June last year. A product of Manchester United youth set-up, the left-winger made his debut in League One for Sheffield United in the 2013-14 season and has close to 300 appearances across UK’s League One and Two.
Abdul Ahad Jawaid, Director Creative and Digital – Multan Sultans, has designed Urban Blues. Reflecting on the concept, Ahad said, “Urban Blues are compelling fusion of art, culture, and cricket, and they embody the spirit of the fascinating city of Multan.
“The dynamic palette dark and light blue colour with teal green in the home kit captures the city’s vibrancy and depth. What sets this kit apart is the incorporation of topographic contour lines, artfully connecting Multan’s geographical diversity with the city’s profound passion for cricket. The away kit is the embodiment of the Sultans’ characteristics of youthfulness and tranquillity.
“These unique and iconic kits truly carry the essence of Multan’s history, the city’s love for cricket, and its ever-evolving spirit.”
Multan Sultans ambassador Fatima Sana said, “It is a great feeling to be joining this vibrant team, which values innovation and inclusivity. Multan Sultans have shown the way to T20 teams in the HBL PSL and around the world through their effective data-driven strategies and steps towards providing equal and fair opportunities for everyone.
“The Multan Sultans have brought together a line-up which has all the potential to add second HBL PSL trophy in the cabinet. Like millions in Pakistan, I will be cheering for Mohammad Rizwan and his team in the HBL PSL 9.”
Multan Sultans ambassador Otis Khan said, “Multan Sultans have done some brilliant things on and off the field so when they showed their interest in having me as their ambassador, it was a straight ‘yes’ from my side.
“I had a lot of fun in kicking the ball around in Urban Blues away kit. I really admire the concept behind the designs of playing and away kits and they are absolutely gorgeous.
“Though, I am gutted to be missing out an opportunity to watch my favourite HBL PSL team in action in person because of my football commitments, I will definitely be following the Sultans throughout HBL PSL 9.”
Urban Blues will be available at Gym Armours official website (www.gymarmour.co).
