Jake Fraser-McGurk has been rewarded for his outstanding BBL|13 campaign by taking out the Melbourne Renegades Player of the Season award.
The 21-year-old was voted by members as their most valuable player at Wednesday night’s Cricket Victoria State & W/BBL Awards in Melbourne.
It was Fraser-McGurk’s first Player of the Season award and just reward after a stellar BBL|13 campaign in which the up-and-comer topped the Renegades’ batting with 257 runs from his eight innings.
Cementing the all-important number three spot in the order, Fraser-McGurk’s season was jam=packed full of highlights, including two quick-fire half-centuries, which contributed to the explosive hitter finishing fifth on the tournament’s batting tally following the regular season.
His efforts earned him a spot in the star-studded BBL|13 Team of the Tournament.
“I’m so thankful to all the members who voted for me, it’s a thrill to win this award,” Fraser-McGurk said. “We had some really strong contributors who had great seasons, so to be able to receive this award is such an honour.”
Considered one of Australian cricket’s brightest prospects and a cornerstone of the Renegades’ push for another BBL championship, Fraser-McGurk signed a four-year contract extension in January to remain with the club until at least the end of 2027/28 season.
Fraser-McGurk is currently abroad playing in the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Capitals.
