Ben Duckett joins Jack Brooks and Katherine Sciver-Brunt as podcast’s first guest.

England Test opener Ben Duckett is the first guest welcomed by former fellow professional cricketers in the opening episode of an exciting new podcast.

The Under The Lid – Inside Pro Cricket podcast has been developed by the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) in partnership with The Cricketer and aims to offer unique insight into what life is really like for those playing cricket at the highest levels, while also examining the hottest talking points in the game today.

Hosted by retired England World Cup winner Katherine Sciver-Brunt and Jack Brooks, whose distinguished career included stints with Northamptonshire, Yorkshire and Somerset, Under The Lid will give listeners a glimpse into the day-to-day realities of life on the professional circuit.

In the first episode, which you can watch on YouTube, listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, Nottinghamshire star Duckett joins Katherine and Jack to talk everything from his England captain Ben Stokes opting out of the T20 World Cup to his business venture ‘Duckett’s Buckets’.

Released every Thursday throughout the season, there’ll also be plenty of laughs along the way in this weekly series, with guests facing The Last Round – a quick-fire deluge of deliveries aimed at testing their cricket knowledge.

Under The Lid host, Katherine Sciver-Brunt, said: “I am looking forward to getting stuck into Under The Lid with Jack and we hope to provide some light entertainment and a unique insight into what life is really like being a professional cricketer.

“With so much experience on the field between us, we’re looking to offer an alternative perspective on the goings on in cricket and now we’re finished, we can be even more honest than usual.”

Under The Lid host, Jack Brooks, said: “I’ve always had a keen interest in the media and I’d like to think we’ve found a little gap in the podcast market to explore the realities of professional cricketers.

“I’ve always found Katherine to be a bit of a legend and I can tell we’re going to have a laugh doing this together with the great and the good of cricket in England and Wales joining us.

“We are brand new to this so we will grow as we go along. Starting with Ben Duckett was a pleasure and we have a host of unbelievable names who will be joining us throughout the summer.”

Head of Digital at The Cricketer, Tom Canning, said: “Here at The Cricketer, we love and supporting professional cricket, as well as those who play it, with our award-winning coverage of the domestic game.

“It’s really exciting to be involved with a couple of well-loved ex-pros in Katherine and Jack, who are now turning their talents from the pitch to the microphone.

“We’ve got some tremendous guests lined up thanks to the PCA’s unrivalled network of talented cricketers, so make sure you subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, The Cricketer’s YouTube channel or wherever you get your podcasts.”
