It is a big weekend for the World Sports Betting Western Province as they are set to host their neighbours Gbets Rocks at World Sports Betting Newlands in the CSA T20 Challenge in the Western Cape derby.

It will be a memorable one as Newlands is set to host a double header that will see World Sports Betting Western Province Women lifting their CSA T20 Challenge trophy on Sunday.

The ladies match will be televised and is set to start at 10:00.

Salieg Nackerdien’s charges will be hoping to turn the wheel after a heavy defeat at home on Wednesday to the DP World Lions.

Vice-captain and fast bowler Beuran Hendricks admits the team hasn’t been in the best form in the past few matches, however, he is confident things will change.

He says they won’t be underestimating the Rocks come this weekend.

“I think you can expect a good fightback from us this weekend, the past couple of results haven’t gone our way, so we want to make sure that we change that momentum into our favour,” said Hendricks.

“Going into this weekend facing the Rocks, we don’t want to underestimate them. They’re a really good side, and they also haven’t come off the results that they probably wanted over the past few games.

“So that’s something we can’t take for granted. They’re also desperate to get some momentum on their side, so we’ve got to make sure that we rock up come Sunday to get over the line.”

Hendricks knows what is at stake for the team and he believes the players are working hard to improve game by game.

“Just looking at this T20 campaign, I think for us it’s just about making sure that we stick to our guns – it’s the back end of the season,” he said.

“I feel it’s been a very successful season for us. We don’t want to let go of the work we’ve put in over the last few months”.

“To throw it away now will be devastating just for the work that the guys have put in, both management and players. I think for the next few games, it’s just about making sure that mental toughness comes in and guys are up for the challenges that come our way.

“We want to be challenging ourselves to make another semi and hopefully a final.”

Province currently sits in the third position on the log while Rocks are occupying the last place with just four points.

The match will start at 14:00 and will be live on SuperSport Variety Channel.
