The Role
We are currently seeking to appoint a full time Events Manager for the Melbourne Stars to lead the implementation of the match day strategy to increase fan passion and provide outstanding match day experiences, while driving a deeper Melbourne Stars’ connection through the Community Cricket department and various fan engagement initiatives.
The Melbourne Stars are one of Australia’s most-loved sporting clubs, holding the largest membership base in the W/BBL. On a per-game basis, the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) are the most watched and fourth most-watched sporting leagues in the country, and only one of two sports nationally to see an increase in its national audience year on year.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Implement the match day strategy and experience across both men’s and women’s matches
- Lead the execution of all Melbourne Stars non-match day events in season including but not limited to Season Launches, Member events, Regional and Metro Roadshows, ATSI Tournament and other events as required
- Ensure operational requirements of a match day are completed and recorded to Cricket Australia, including coin toss, distribution of team sheets, rain delays, etc.
- Develop and execute new fan engagement activities for match days alongside the Marketing and Fan Engagement Manager
- Assist with managing all resources required to deliver the match day experience
- Assist with the concourse activation plan and guide the Events Coordinator to deliver this to an exceptional standard
- Maintain an expert network of relationships with key Melbourne Stars stakeholders and suppliers including EP Company, Cricket Australia, MCG, and contractors
- Ensure all commercial requirements are met on match days (e.g. in bowl activations, vision screen etc.).
About You
The successful candidate will have the proven ability to multitask and remain organised while simultaneously maintaining a high level of attention to detail to ensure all event operational requirements are delivered. Further, the successful candidate will execute event strategies to ensure exceptional fan engagement and experiences at Melbourne Stars’ WBBL and BBL matches and community events.
To be considered, you will meet the below criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant degree such as Business, Sport or Event Management degree
- 3-4 years’ experience in Event Management, preferably within a sporting/entertainment environment
- Proven experience to grow fan engagement through match day events
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Highly organised and an ability to multi task
- Flexibility to work late nights, weekends and public holidays and travel as required
- Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
- Current Victoria Driver’s License
