About Berkshire Cricket
Berkshire Cricket is an independent charity that looks to grow the game of cricket within the County of Berkshire, including participation and performance programmes. The charity also performs the role of the County Cricket Board and works closely with the England & Wales Cricket Board and other cricket partners to deliver highly impactful and important opportunities for people to engage with the game.
With an annual turnover of circa £1m, the continual sourcing of new revenue streams is essential – around 50% of our income is from contractual agreements from within Cricket, with the remainder being generated through a mixture of grant funding, sponsorship, and commercial activities.
Berkshire Cricket have had great successes on the field, with the Mens team being one of the most successful teams in National Counties Cricket in recent years, we also have an excellent track record of developing players to move into professional cricket with many of our former pathway players with Southern Vipers (Womens professional game), Middlesex, Hampshire, Surrey, Somerset and more (Mens professional game).
There are around 80 clubs in the County, with almost half of these having a Women and/or Girls offer. We have also grown our work in the disability sphere, with a Countywide SEND Schools programme and club based playing opportunities.
We are currently focusing on growing our Community/Urban Cricket offer by expanding activities within Slough and Reading, and increasing the opportunities available to those from disadvantaged backgrounds – our Cricket for Good offer.
