Erin Osborne, Tess Flintoff and newcomer Georgia Gall have all put pen to paper with the Melbourne Stars ahead of the upcoming Rebel WBBL season.
Osborne is a veteran of 67 WBBL matches and joined the Stars ahead of the third season of the competition, captaining the side during WBBL|04.
17-year-old Flintoff made her Stars debut last year, playing 13 matches.
Gall, who is only 16 and hails from Euroa, was selected to represent the Cricket Australia XI in 2019 – a squad of 15 young cricketers who compete in the national Under 18 championships.
Osborne said she was pleased to re-sign with the club.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Stars since making the move to Melbourne for WBBL. Over the last few years the club has done exceptionally well in developing quality young players. I am excited about the prospects for the upcoming season.”
Melbourne Stars WBBL Head Coach Trent Woodhill said all three players brought different skills to the side.
“Erin is a wily and tough competitor who proved again last season that her leadership around the group is really valuable,” Woodhill said.
“In Tess and Georgia, we’ve signed two young players with a view to the future. Tess got her first taste of the WBBL last year and showed some real talent and Georgia will benefit from the experience this year.”
Melbourne Stars General Manager Nick Cummins said the club’s roster was shaping up well.
“We’re pleased with how the squad is looking and we’ll have more announcements to make in coming weeks to complete the squad. Coronavirus obviously presents some challenges in our planning and preparation, but we’ll be ready to go once the season details are locked in,” Cummins said.
Current squad: Meg Lanning, Elyse Villani, Annabel Sutherland, Alana King, Holly Ferling, Erin Osborne, Tess Flintoff, Georgia Gall, Nicole Faltum
