Job Title: Apprentice Grounds Person
Reporting to: Head Grounds Person
Full or Part time position: Full Time [35 hours]
Role Overview
Assist the Grounds Team, as directed by the Head Grounds Person, to deliver outstanding playing facilities for cricket and an exceptional conference and events venue for all visitors to The County Ground.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ground-wide maintenance, deployment of rain covers, mowing, marking out and litter collection
• Utilising a range of turf-care machinery and equipment and techniques including some routine maintenance
• Assisting in preparation of the nets for team practice sessions
• Perform tasks as directed by the Venue Operations Manager and Head Grounds Person to ensure the delivery of outstanding outdoor cricket facilities
• Maintaining health and safety standards and complying with Club policies and procedures
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
• Experience or interest in cricket pitch preparation
• Knowledge and/or interest in machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Able to follow instructions and work unsupervised
• A positive attitude showing initiative, focus and drive
• An ability to learn with a positive attitude
• Reliable with high standards
• Flexible over working hours [due to matchdays]
• Desire to engage in training to develop skills for the job role
