Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. Originally registered as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on June 30, 1975, it was renamed Sri Lanka Cricket in 2003.

Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to grant contracts to 20 premier umpires for the first time in an effort to uplift the wellbeing of the cricket umpires in the country. Executive Committee which met recently approved the proposal presented by Chairman of the Umpires Committee, Deepal Madurapperuma.

SLC would provide a monthly fixed allowance for the selected umpires who would be divided into three categories–International, Emerging and Level 1. The International category includes four umpires, followed by six in the emerging category and 10 in Level 1.
