We are pleased to share with you the success of the KNCB Cricket Festivals, which were held on 15th June and 23rd June. These events were aimed at women and girls. The idea was to present cricket in a recreational format and make it more accessible to female cricket enthusiasts. The unprecedented energy and enthusiasm made the days unforgettable for all involved. The highlights were the friendly cricket matches in which twelve teams participated, and the closing of the day with dance, music, a DJ and delicious food.
An unforgettable day
A big thank you to all the participants and supporters who made the day unforgettable. With over 300 visitors the festival was a resounding success, capturing the unique atmosphere of cricket at every turn. The talent was inspiring – we witnessed spectacular sixes and fours as well as some fantastic high catches that everyone talked about for a long time.
A new beginning
The festival was a first introduction for many women and girls. We successfully introduced 130 new female players to cricket – the start of their journey in this beautiful sport. The positive feedback we received from participants was very encouraging and gives further impetus to our mission to increase the number of female cricketers in the Netherlands.
Looking forward
The KNCB Cricket Festival was about fostering a sense of community and passion for cricket among women and girls. The enthusiasm of the participants laid a strong foundation for the future. Because while we are still basking in the success of our first festivals, we are also looking forward to future events.
We are happy to see more women and girls taking up the sport, showcasing their talents and contributing to the vibrant and colourful cricket community in the Netherlands.
Once again, many thanks to everyone who participated and supported the KNCB Cricket Festival. Your passion and enthusiasm made this event a milestone. On to many more successful festivals in the future!
