2023 captains will remain in the role at Emirates Old Trafford

There will be two familiar names leading the sides at Emirates Old Trafford this summer. Sophie Ecclestone and Jos Buttler will once again captain Manchester Originals in 2024.

Ecclestone was appointed last year following the departure of Kate Cross, who had captained the team during the first two years.

Buttler led Originals in the very first match of The Hundred back in 2021 and has continued in the role since, with the team reaching the Men’s Competition final in each of the past two years.

The pair are arguably Originals’ best two players. Ecclestone is widely renowned as the best spin bowler in the world, and has taken 20 wickets across her The Hundred career. Only three of her team-mates have scored more than the 192 runs she’s managed since The Hundred began.

Buttler has the second-most runs among Originals players with 632. Only fellow keeper Phil Salt eclipses Buttler’s tally, with Buttler having played 10 matches fewer.
