Sunrisers Hyderabad owners witness 138% revenue surge, driven by IPL and SA20 franchises

Must Read

In a significant boost for the Sunrisers franchises’ owners, their revenue from the teams increased from Rs 276 crore to Rs 659 crore in FY24. Sun TV Network, which owns the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Eastern Cape franchises, recorded a 138% rise in revenue in 2024, primarily due to the success of these teams.

The revenue surge was largely driven by the IPL and SA20 franchises, with Sunrisers Hyderabad finishing as runners-up in IPL 2024 and Eastern Cape winning the SA20 title for the second consecutive time.

According to the Economic Times, the revenue growth was also supported by an increase in earnings from the central revenue pool.

Additionally, the media rights deal between Disney and Viacom 18 played a role in boosting the franchise owners’ revenue.

Sun TV Network has expressed confidence that revenue from their cricket teams will continue to grow in the future and has pledged full support for its teams in the upcoming editions of IPL and SA20.

According to a report, the Indian Premier League (IPL), the world’s wealthiest cricket league, has seen its valuation drop by 11.7%.

The league’s value has decreased from Rs 92,500 crore to Rs 82,700 crore, primarily due to recent adjustments to the media rights. Despite this, the report indicates that Mumbai Indians remain the highest-valued franchise in the league.
