During its 74th meeting on Thursday, the Board of Governors (BoG) proposed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) take full control of Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium and upgrade it to international standards.

This initiative aims to revive the Faisalabad venue, enabling it to host bilateral international series again. Meanwhile, the BoG received an update on the Champions One-Day Cup, which kicked off at Iqbal Stadium with an opening match between Markhors and Panthers.

The BoG commended PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for successfully attracting top-tier organizations to partner with the tournament, which features the country’s best cricketers.

An update was also provided on the progress of infrastructure projects at various venues, detailing their design and scope of work. Members fully supported the projects, emphasizing that they were timely and would enhance Pakistan’s image and cricket profile upon completion.

Earlier, Naqvi extended his best wishes to the teams and players participating in the Champions Cup stating, “The Champions Cup will strengthen domestic cricket and provide opportunities for new talent to emerge.”

“I am pleased to see the excitement of Faisalabad’s citizens for the Champions Cup/ PCB has made every effort to ensure good arrangements for the matches.”

“We have focused on providing the best facilities for cricket fans. I hope cricket fans will enjoy the Champions Cup matches.”

“Our aim is to hold tournaments in other cities as well, just like Faisalabad,” he added.
