Former Pakistan international Rashid Latif has criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its poor organization of the Champions’ Cup domestic ODI tournament. Latif condemned the PCB after cricketers were seen using substandard match gear during the games.

Pakistan cricket has faced difficulties recently, including a 2-0 Test series defeat to Bangladesh at home, marking their first-ever Test loss to the Bangla Tigers. The PCB is currently running a two-week domestic ODI tournament to provide players with practice ahead of England’s tour later this year.

In the fourth match of the ongoing Champions Cup, Asif Ali was observed wearing a cloth over his helmet while waiting to bat. During the Stallions’ game against the Wolves, Asif wore a helmet covered with a cloth featuring the team’s name.

Rashid Latif expressed frustration, believing that the PCB should have provided customized helmets for each team. He wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter): “Expensive tournament but no new Halmets available for batters. Asif Ali and others using red clothes (Cushions).”

The ODI Champions’ Cup is currently underway in Pakistan. In the group stage, each team will play against every other team once. The top four teams on the points table will advance to the playoffs.

The playoffs will follow an IPL-style format, with the winners of the two qualifier matches meeting in the final on September 29.
