FNB becomes official Associate Naming Sponsor for Cricket Namibia

Must Read

FNB Namibia has joined as an associate partner of the national cricket team, the Richelieu Eagles. The announcement was made during a press conference at FNB’s head office in Windhoek, where Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller highlighted the rarity of such a partnership in sports.

“It’s an exceptional day in which we announce an associate partnership in sport, which is very rare, because it’s not common for corporates to buy into associate partnerships,” Muller said.

As part of the agreement, FNB Namibia will have naming rights, with their logo featured on the back of the national team’s shirt, and they will provide financial support, though the exact amount remains undisclosed.

“The national team will still be called the Richelieu Eagles until March next year when that contract comes to an end, but FNB is an associate partner and that’s why their logo appears at the back, because it’s in a supporting role to the Eagles team in the naming designation,” Muller explained.

“We are not going to disclose amounts, that’s private information, but it’s part of quite a number of designations that we will be announcing over the next six months or so,” he added.

The partnership builds on another recent collaboration, where FNB Namibia became the naming sponsor of Cricket Namibia’s new stadium. Muller confirmed that this is a three-year deal.

“The stadium is the FNB Namibia NCG (Namibia Cricket Ground), and that is a three-year partnership until the 1st of September 2027 just before the Cricket World Cup starts,” he added.

While the stadium is still under development, the field and pitch were recently used for the UAE Falcons vs. Namibia A series. Namibia will also co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup alongside South Africa and Zimbabwe.
