The Brisbane Heat has today kicked off its tenth season of the Weber Women’s Big Bash League with a powerful campaign that celebrates the rich history and legacy of women’s cricket in Queensland over the decades.
As the Weber Women’s Big Bash League approaches its historic tenth season, the Brisbane Heat has launched its WBBL|10 ‘For Decades’ campaign, which celebrates not only the past nine seasons of the WBBL, but Queensland Cricket’s rich legacy with women’s state competitions dating back to the early 1930s.
Since the first season of the WBBL kicked off in 2015, the Brisbane Heat has played a significant role in increasing women and girls’ participation in Queensland and setting a new standard for game day experiences and entertainment in women’s sport domestically and globally.
The ‘For Decades’ campaign is an opportunity to re-energise the Heat’s WBBL visual identity, whilst honouring the volunteers, umpires, coaches and players that have contributed to Queensland Cricket’s history including trailblazers like Joyce Brewer (pictured below), T20 changemakers like Jess Jonassen, and the emerging stars currently coming up through the system.
As part of the WBBL ‘Stadium Series’, the Heat will make a historic return to the Gabba on Saturday 9 November for this year’s WBBL Gabba Smash, presented by Ward. The match is set to attract the biggest stand-alone WBBL crowd in the Heat’s history as the team return for redemption in the grand-final rematch against the Adelaide Strikers.
Brisbane had an impressive WBBL record at the Gabba in the early double-header days of the Big Bash, winning seven out of their eight games, before the competition moved to its home venue at Allan Border Field in Albion, and its own stand-alone timeslot in October and November in WBBL|05.
The Heat will also play three home games at their official home, Allan Border Field, lining up against the Renegades (30 Oct), Stars (22 Nov) and Sixers (24 Nov).

Based in Brisbane, Queensland, the Heat succeeded the Queensland Bulls, who played in the former KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. The team wears a teal uniform and plays at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, known as The Gabba.
