India’s participation in the Champions Trophy, scheduled for February-March in Pakistan, remains uncertain and is contingent on approval from the Indian government. However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi is confident that all teams, including India, will attend the tournament.

Speaking to reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Naqvi provided updates on the ongoing refurbishment of the venue to prepare for the Champions Trophy, which is returning to the International Cricket Council (ICC) calendar after seven years.

When asked about the Indian team’s participation, Naqvi stated, “We are ready to host the Champions Trophy. All teams will come.”

He was also queried about the potential visit of Jay Shah, who will assume the ICC chairmanship on December 1, to Pakistan.

In response to whether he looked forward to meeting Shah during his visit as ICC chairman, Naqvi said, “I don’t think the details of his meetings have been decided yet,” before emphasizing, “There is nothing of that sort until now because of which the Indian team postpones or cancels their participation. So, all teams will come.”

As of now, India has not confirmed its participation, and there is a possibility of the tournament being held in a hybrid model, which may include a venue outside Pakistan for India’s matches, similar to the recent Asia Cup. The PCB, however, is reportedly willing to accommodate the Indian team’s logistical needs by hosting all of India’s matches in Lahore, which is conveniently located near Amritsar.
