Public sector lender Bank of Baroda (BoB) has signed cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as its global brand ambassador through a three-year strategic partnership.
The announcement coincides with the launch of the bank’s first campaign featuring Sachin, called “Play the Masterstroke,” and the introduction of the ‘bob Masterstroke Savings Account,’ tailored for premium clients.
BoB stated that Sachin, a Bharat Ratna awardee, will be featured in all branding campaigns, consumer education programs on financial literacy and fraud prevention, as well as customer and employee engagement initiatives.
This is BoB’s second time appointing a cricket player as a brand ambassador, having signed Rahul Dravid in 2005, who is now with Shriram Finance Ltd. Several banks have also signed sportspersons and celebrities as ambassadors.
In October 2023, State Bank of India onboarded former cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, while Utkarsh Small Finance Bank partnered with boxer Mary Kom and footballer Sunil Chhetri. AU Small Finance Bank appointed actors Aamir Khan and Kiara Advani in 2021.
Currently, Bank of Baroda’s endorsers include badminton Olympian P.V. Sindhu, cricketer Shafali Verma, and tennis player Sumit Nagal.
With a presence in 17 countries, BoB expects Sachin’s global appeal to enhance its brand internationally, while resonating with India’s diverse demographics.
