Asian Television Network International Limited, Canada’s largest South Asian broadcaster, and the first to air the Cricket World Cup live in Canada in 1987 and the IPL live in Canada, has announced its acquisition of exclusive Canadian broadcast rights for the inaugural season of the National Cricket League (NCL) of the USA, held in Dallas, Texas.

Cricket fans in the U.S. and Canada can look forward to an exciting season as the NCL debuts in Dallas, showcasing top cricket talent from both national and international players. The inaugural season kicks off on October 4, 2024, at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Cricket Stadium, featuring teams from major cities like New York, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles.

“We are very excited to bring the first season of NCL on our channels across Canada.” said Dr. Shan Chandrasekar, President and CEO of ATN. “Cricket is one of the most popular sports globally and fastest growing in North America and the NCL provides an exciting platform for fans in the U.S. & Canada at Prime Time to experience high-quality fast Paced limited-over cricket closer to home” he added.

The NCL aims to promote cricket’s growth in the U.S., attracting a diverse fan base with top cricket stars, celebrity appearances, and family-friendly matchday activities. The league will also focus on youth development and community engagement through initiatives like coaching clinics, school outreach programs, and grassroots tournaments. Competing teams include the New York Lions, Atlanta Kings, Los Angeles Waves, Texas Gladiators, Dallas Lonestars, and Chicago Cricket Club.

In addition, ATN holds exclusive Canadian rights to the West Indies vs. England cricket series, starting in late October and running into November 2024. The series will feature One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), with live broadcasts on ATN’s sports channels, Commonwealth Broadcasting Network (CBN) and ATN Cricket Plus.
