The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced changes to the men’s national selection committee on Friday, introducing new members.
The new appointments include former cricketer Aqib Javed, ex-captain Azhar Ali, and former International Cricket Council (ICC) umpire and first-class cricketer Aleem Dar, according to sources.
Asad Shafiq remains part of the committee, while Hassan Cheema has been appointed as the data analyst for the team.
Javed will oversee key committee matters, and Ali will focus on youth development, as per sources.
The previous selection committee included the captain, head coach, and five non-voting members, alongside Shafiq.
This change follows the resignation of former cricketer Muhammad Yousuf, who stepped down two weeks ago. In a statement on X, Yousuf said: “I announce my resignation as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team for ‘personal reasons’. Serving this incredible team has been a profound privilege, and I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket.”
The roles of the captain, head coach, and non-voting members in the new selection team are yet to be announced by the PCB, which is expected to confirm these details in the coming week.
