ICC greenlights Champions Trophy in Pakistan

Must Read

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed satisfaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) preparations for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

The eight-team tournament will be held in Pakistan at three venues—Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi—during February and March next year.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who attended the ICC meeting in Dubai, assured board members of the progress and timeline for renovation work at the proposed venues. He also invited ICC members to visit Pakistan to personally assess the tournament’s preparations.

The tournament final is scheduled for March 9, with a reserve day on March 10.

The ICC board also discussed adjusting the tenure for the ICC Chair and Independent Director positions from two to three-year terms, pending membership approval.

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will feature eight teams. Pakistan will compete in Group A with India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B includes England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan.
