Cricket ACT is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Directors to its Board, following the Annual General Meeting held on Monday, October 28th.

The new Directors, Paul Singer and Kate Pope, bring a wealth of experience and a shared passion for cricket and community engagement.

Paul Singer is a seasoned senior public sector leader, having served as the Official Secretary to the Governor-General. He is also the co-founder of the charity Make A Mark Australia, which empowers children in need through improved access to education. Paul’s love for cricket has been enriched through his roles as a player, coach, and administrator, supporting junior and grade competitions. His commitment to the sport extends beyond the boundary, as evidenced by his Director role with The LBW Trust, a national charity that leverages cricket to support education in cricket-playing nations and regional Australia.

Kate Pope is an experienced senior public servant and an avid follower of cricket in all its forms. She believes in the positive impact that participating in sport can have at the individual, community, and national levels. Kate brings extensive skills in governance, culture change, innovation, and community engagement to the Cricket ACT Board. She has a strong interest in promoting participation, equity, and accessibility within the sport.

Cricket ACT Chair, Greg Boorer, welcomed the appointments.

“We are thrilled to welcome Paul and Kate to the Cricket ACT Board. Their extensive experience and passion for cricket will be invaluable as we continue to promote and develop the sport within our community. We look forward to their contributions in driving our mission forward.”

Cricket ACT would also like to extend its heartfelt thanks to departing Board member Chris Body for his immense contributions over the past decades. Chris has been associated with cricket in Canberra for 50 years, starting with his first junior game in 1974.

His journey includes playing senior cricket, serving as a curator, being a Weston Creek committee member, Club President, Grade Cricket member, and finally, a Board member of Cricket ACT. His dedication and service have left a lasting impact on the cricket community.

The addition of Paul Singer and Kate Pope to the Board marks a significant step in Cricket ACT’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance and foster a culture of inclusivity and growth within the sport. Their diverse backgrounds and shared commitment to cricket will undoubtedly strengthen the organisation’s ability to serve the community and advance the game at all levels.
