The Brisbane Heat will ‘kickstart’ 2025 with vocalist, rapper and producer Example bringing a high-octane headline show to the third New Year’s Bash at the Gabba: ‘The New Year’s Bash supporting the KFC Youth Foundation’.
This year’s New Year’s Bash will see the KFC Youth Foundation be the official charity partner for the first time and feature a 10-minute set by Example as part of the innings break show.
Example, whose career has seen him rack up global hits such as Kickstarts, All Night, Changed The Way You Kiss Me and a host of other high rotation tracks, will play on New Year’s Day night when the reigning BBL champions, the Brisbane Heat, host the Melbourne Stars.
The KFC Youth Foundation supports Aussie youth mental health and wellbeing through its charity partners Black Dog Institute and ReachOut Australia. As of November 2024, the KFC Youth Foundation has raised almost $11 million in funds to help all young Aussies beyond the walls of KFC restaurants.
Heat fans can directly donate and contribute to the positive work of the KFC Youth Foundation through the 50/50 game-day charity raffle and Ticketek donations when they purchase a New Year’s Bash ticket.
Brisbane Heat General Manager of Marketing, Pete Lock, said the third New Year’s Bash, supporting the KFC Youth Foundation, promised to be another landmark BBL event.
“The Heat are thrilled to welcome Example to help us launch into 2025 and are excited about providing fans with another memorable night out at a Heat game at the Gabba,’’ he said.
“We’re grateful for the support from our first-time partner KFC Youth Foundation and look forward to using the New Year’s Bash to promote the outstanding work they do with young Australians, many of whom are fans of the BBL and the Heat”.
“We can’t wait to welcome Heat fans to the Gabba on January 1 for what will be the perfect way to bring in the new year.”
KFC Australia Group Marketing Director, Sally Spriggs, added that the game will play an important role in raising funds and awareness for the KFC Youth Foundation.
“We’re delighted to partner with Brisbane Heat to raise awareness and funds for the KFC Youth Foundation. Funds raised go towards support services and vital research of our charity partners, Black Dog Institute and ReachOut Australia, who are helping young Aussies thrive.”
Tickets for the Heat’s KFC Big Bash League matches at the Gabba are on sale now, with the NYB event and 22 December opening home game against the Adelaide Strikers among the top 10 selling BBL games so far this season.
The New Year’s Bash has previously featured leading Australian artists like Pnau, Peking Duk, Ball Park Music and Stace Cadet & KLP.
WBBL and BBL tickets for the Heat are on sale now through Ticketek
