The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reappointed Shahid Aslam as the batting coach for the national white-ball squads following the team’s struggles in their recent series in Australia.

Aslam, a certified coach, has previously worked with the Pakistan team in various roles, including assistant coach, fielding coach, and assistant manager. For the past two years, he has been serving in a coaching role at the High Performance Centre (HPC) in Lahore.

Former Test captain Mohammad Yousuf had been the batting coach before being appointed as a national selector. However, Yousuf later stepped down from both roles and returned to the HPC, where he recently tendered his resignation. The PCB, however, has declined to accept his resignation.

Aslam’s appointment as batting coach comes on the recommendation of interim white-ball coach Aaqib Javed.

The PCB recently named Aaqib as the white-ball head coach until the ICC Champions Trophy next year after Australian Jason Gillespie declined the offer to serve as the all-format coach.

Aaqib, who continues as the senior national selector, has joined the squad in Zimbabwe for a series of three ODIs and three T20Is. The team will then travel to South Africa for another white-ball series.
