The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has placed the Pakistan Super League (PSL) low on its priority list, causing frustration among franchise owners over the lack of progress in league matters. However, the recent appointment of Salman Naseer as the head of PSL affairs has given team owners hope for positive changes.
According to Cricket Pakistan, franchise owners recently sent a joint letter congratulating Salman Naseer on his new role and expressing their commitment to working together. The letter outlined several urgent issues requiring attention, including player availability for the PSL. Owners urged Naseer to engage with the England and other cricket boards, especially following recent developments.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has indicated it may restrict its players from participating in overseas leagues, except for the IPL, during its domestic season. Meanwhile, the IPL auction is scheduled next week in Saudi Arabia, with player lists already released.
Franchise owners have also urged the PCB to finalize the PSL draft and set dates for the league’s 10th and 11th editions. The 10th edition is expected to overlap with the IPL schedule, raising concerns about competing for viewership and player availability.
The letter further reminded the PCB of its prior commitment to establish PSL as a separate entity. Franchises stressed the importance of addressing team valuations and financial matters to ensure the league’s growth and sustainability.
