Mohammad Nabi, a prominent all-rounder, has become the first Afghan cricketer to play 300 international matches.
The 39-year-old achieved this milestone on Wednesday during the opening match of a T20 series against Zimbabwe. Nabi marked the occasion with an impressive performance, scoring 44 runs off 27 balls, including five fours and one six.
Reflecting on his accomplishment, Nabi stated in a video released by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), “I am happy that I have played 300 international matches for my country. I am proud of it.”
In the same innings, Nabi reached another landmark by hitting his 150th four in T20Is, further cementing his legacy as one of Afghanistan’s finest players.
Nabi’s international career began in April 2009 with an ODI debut against Scotland. Since then, he has played 167 ODIs, accumulating 3,600 runs at an average of 27.48 and taking 172 wickets with a bowling average of 32.47.
His T20I journey started in February 2010 against Ireland. Over 130 matches, he has scored 2,209 runs at an average of 22.54 and claimed 97 wickets with an economy rate of 7.33. In Test cricket, where Afghanistan made its debut in 2018, Nabi has appeared in three matches, scoring 33 runs and taking eight wickets.
Known fondly as the “President” of international cricket, Nabi has gained admiration worldwide for his consistent contributions to the sport.
