The BCCI and PCB have reportedly reached a compromise on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament faced uncertainty when the BCCI refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan, while the PCB insisted on hosting the entire event in Pakistan and rejected the hybrid model proposed by the BCCI.
After months of discussions, the PCB agreed to a hybrid model with specific conditions. Under the proposed partnership, Pakistan would also play its ICC tournament matches outside India whenever the arch-rivals host.
India is set to co-host the T20 World Cup 2026 with Sri Lanka, and if the agreement is finalized, Pakistan’s matches in the tournament will be played in Sri Lanka instead of India.
According to The Express Tribune, the BCCI offered financial compensation to the PCB for losses incurred due to India’s refusal to play in Pakistan. However, the PCB rejected the offer, prioritizing national dignity and maintaining a reciprocal arrangement. The report also stated that Pakistan would be awarded hosting rights for a Women’s ICC event in 2028.
The Champions Trophy schedule was delayed due to the BCCI-PCB standoff, but the report suggests it may be released within two days. While the three-year partnership deal between the boards might not be announced alongside the schedule, it is expected to be finalized later.
The ICC has approved the hybrid model for the tournament, scheduled to begin on February 19 and conclude on March 9. Ten matches will take place in Pakistan, while India will play all their matches in Dubai, including the high-profile clash against Pakistan. If India reaches the semifinals, the knockout matches will be held in Dubai; otherwise, they will take place in Pakistan.
