BCCI to elect new Secretary and Treasurer in January’s Special General Meeting

Must Read

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is scheduled to hold a Special General Meeting (SGM) at its Mumbai headquarters on January 12 to elect a new secretary and treasurer.

These positions have been vacant since Jay Shah assumed the role of Chairman at the International Cricket Council earlier this month and Ashish Shelar became a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government.

According to the BCCI constitution, the board has 45 days from the resignation of an office-bearer to call a Special General Meeting and appoint a successor.

In preparation, the BCCI apex council held a meeting on Thursday, where it was decided that former chief election commissioner A.K. Jyoti would act as the electoral officer for the elections.

Although state associations have not yet received formal notice about the SGM, sources suggest that official communications will be sent to the member units in the coming days, in accordance with the BCCI constitution’s requirement of a 21-day notice period.
