Jio Star, a leading broadcaster, has set a target of ₹6,000 crore in advertising revenue for its TV and digital platforms during two major cricketing events—the ICC Champions Trophy and IPL 2025.

According to The Economic Times, the broadcaster aims to generate approximately ₹1,500 crore from the ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, and ₹4,500 crore from IPL 2025, running from March 23 to May 25.

The company’s advertising team is prioritizing the Champions Trophy, with pricing structures already in place. On TV, co-presenting sponsorship slots are priced at ₹55 crore, associate sponsorships at ₹44 crore, and partner sponsorships at ₹28 crore. A 10-second ad spot during India’s matches is set at ₹28 lakh.

For digital platforms, co-presenting sponsorships are priced at ₹55 crore, powered-by sponsorships at ₹45 crore, and associate sponsorships at ₹25 crore. The CPM rates are ₹250 for the full tournament and ₹500 for India matches. On Connected TV, a 10-second ad spot costs ₹7 lakh for the tournament and ₹15 lakh for India and playoff matches.

“Jio Star’s ad revenue targets seem ambitious amid the current slowdown in the ad market, which will ultimately depend on overall demand. That said, certain sectors like financial services and auto show promising growth prospects. On the other hand, FMCG, the largest contributor to TV ad spending, is yet to recover its past momentum in ad expenditures,” said IPG Mediabrands chief investment officer Hema Malik

For IPL 2025, which traditionally garners the highest revenue, ad rate details are pending but are expected to exceed previous years due to its massive viewership and sponsorship appeal.

Both events are anticipated to attract significant advertiser interest due to their widespread audience reach in India and internationally. The Champions Trophy will feature leading international teams, while the IPL remains a marquee event for cricket fans.

Jio Star’s ₹6,000 crore target highlights its strategy to dominate the sports broadcasting market. By leveraging traditional TV and digital platforms, the company aims to maximize advertiser reach and engagement. With cricket commanding nationwide attention, Jio Star is poised for a landmark year in 2025.
