An entertaining half-century from skipper Asghar Afghan and an all-round bowling performance gave DFI Band-e Amir Dragons their third consecutive win in the ongoing Etisalat 4G Shpageeza Cricket League as they beat ACTU Speenghar Tigers by 7 wickets in the 10th match of the tournament.
Earlier, Tigers’ skipper Karim Khan Sadiq won the toss and opted to bat first. However, they lost quick wickets as Shabir Noori and Majeed Alam were back to the pavilion in the first 4 overs. Debutant Jalat Khan and youngster Parviz Malikzai provided them with a solid third-wicket partnership of 68 runs before Jalat lost his wicket in the 12thover of the innings. The Speenghar Tigers lost quick wickets again losing Malikzai and skipper Karim Sadiq as the Dragons sought to restrict them further. Waheedullah Shafaq and Qais Ahmad provided a late surge to take ACTU Speenghar Tigers to a total of 139/5 in the allotted 20 overs.
In response, an in-form Usman Ghani was well complimented by his opening partner Hazratullah Zazai providing the Dragons with an 83-run stand in just 9.4 overs. After both openers were back to the pavilion, skipper Asghar Afghan played an exciting half-century to take his team home and at the top of the table with 3.5 overs to spare.
The next match is scheduled to be played between Hazrat Ltd. Mis-e Ainak Knights and DG Bost Defenders today afternoon.
