Proteas quartet Faf du Plessis, Lungi Ngidi, Imran Tahir and Quinton de Kock could all be involved when the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) gets underway on Saturday.
The four are amongst 11 South Africa international stars that will take part in the 13th edition of the competition, which is taking place several months late due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There is also a new venue for the tournament due to the high virus numbers in India, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) staging the seven-and-half week event that concludes with the final on November 10.
Three stadiums will stage the 60 matches – in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
Du Plessis, Ngidi and Tahir are all on the books of the Super Kings, who face De Kock’s Mumbai in match one.
AB de Villiers, one of the stalwarts of the lucrative Indian league, once again turns out for Royal Challengers Bangalore, who open their account on Monday against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dale Steyn and Chris Morris are also part of the RCB squad.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s second game could see Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje play for the Delhi Capitals against former South Africa bowler and Kolpak paceman, Hardus Viljoen at Kings XI Punjab.
Finally, David Miller’s new franchise the Rajasthan Royals open their account when they tackle Chennai on Tuesday.
