Afghanistan’s white-ball tour to Zimbabwe, which was scheduled to be played in early February in Zimbabwe, has been postponed. The series, which includes three ODIs and 5 T20I matches, is postponed due to the inability of arranging the required broadcasting services by the host country.

The series was originally scheduled for December 2021 but was postponed to February 2022 at ACB’s request. “We were in contact with ZC on how to proceed with the series upon the breakout of a new COVID-19 variant in Zimbabwe. Then considering the circumstances in Zimbabwe, both parties agreed to proceed with the series in February”. Said the Cricket Operations Manager, Mr. Abdul Wali Amin.

“We had then assessed and negotiated the concerns related to Covid-19 and travel restrictions in Zimbabwe. We had also reached an agreement with ZC to proceed with the series as planned in February. But we were informed by ZC that they are unable to secure the required broadcast services including the Decision Review System, so the tour was postponed for the 2nd time.” Mr. Amin told ACB Media:

Afghanistan Cricket Board is committed to working closely with Zimbabwe Cricket to reschedule the series in near future.

The three ODI Matches in the series were part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, while the 5 T20Is were planned as part of the preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

For the time being, Afghanistan Cricket Board is working on to tour Bangladesh in February for a limited-overs series, which includes three ICC Cricket World Cup Super League ODIs and two T20Is.
