ACB Chairman Farhan Yusefzai held the monthly meeting with managers from all ACB departments through video-conferencing where he issued directives on some important matters including APL T20, Women’s cricket, Future Tours Program (FTP) and more.
ACB Chairman Farhan Yusefzai held the monthly meeting with managers from all ACB departments through video-conferencing where he issued directives on some important matters including APL T20, Women’s cricket, Future Tours Program (FTP) and more.
Initiating the meeting, the Chairman thanked all those involved with successful organization of the recently concluded Shpageeza Cricket League. He further directed the relevant departments to conduct the upcoming Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-day tournament successfully as well.
Mr. Yusefzai addressed the Afghanistan Premier League T20’s organizing committee discussing the possibility of organizing the league this year and instructed the committee to present their complete progress report within the next two weeks. He further added, “ As APL T20 is considered one of Afghan Cricket’s priorities, we should strive to use our resources and organize the second edition of the league this year or earlier next year. “
The ACB Chairman also said that ACB has asked ICC for valued revenue increase as one of its full members. He also stated that efforts are underway to include cricket in school curriculum to strengthen the grassroot cricket development in the country.
With regards to development of the game, Mr. Yusefzai stated that major reforms will be undertaken to improve domestic cricket which will also include the licensing of all private cricket academies which will be required for them to operate as per ACB’s requirements.
The Chairman also emphasized on the further development of Women’s Cricket and pointed out that as required by the ICC and ACC, Afghanistan should have a women’s cricket team in near future and ACB is committed to this cause.
Furthermore, the participants also discussed the overall development of cricket, providing facilities for players, training camps and player performance.
ACB’s director of Cricket, Raees Ahmadzai shared required information on player performance, fitness, upcoming series and overall cricket development.
Concluding the meeting , the ACB Chairman remarked “ In order to further develop and strengthen Afghan Cricket, we need to do more and all managers are requested to complete their plans on time and implement the recommendations.”
