ACB Chairman: New land allocated for a standard international ground in Kabul

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the governing body for cricket in Afghanistan. It joined the ICC in 2001, became an associate member in 2013, and a full member in 2017. The ACB is also part of the Asian Cricket Council.

Afghanistan Cricket Board Chairman, Mr. Farhan Yusefzai held a press conference today afternoon where he informed the press about the allocation of new land for a standardized international cricket ground in Kabul as well as ACB’s achievements since the inception of his tenure.

Addressing the press conference, Mr. Yusefzai also discussed the launch of 7th edition of Shpageeza Cricket League, Afghanistan Premier League T20, and comprehensive recent reforms in the organization.

The ACB Chairman remarked “Land allocation process is almost finalized for Kabul International Cricket Ground which will soon be approved by the Cabinet and the construction activities will soon follow.” He further added ” I have achieved a lot since I joined as Chairman of this organization. Initially, ACB had budget deficit which has been successfully tackled now.

We succeeded to do so by avoiding and restraining un-necessary expenses which has even produced budget surplus.” He continued, ” However, we have requested financial assistance from ICC as we believe that if we get the additional funding from ICC, it will help us expatiate the work will effectively and efficiently.” Mr. Yusefzai stated that the reforms carried on under his leadership include both administrative and technical aspects.

For instance, he said that the National Players are more united and a lot of work has been done on the capacity development.

Mr. Yusefzai said he believes the administration’s secret to success is initiation of tasks and its implementation stsrting from himself and having it replicated by staff. He also pointed out that many fundamental policies have been developed.

The ACB Chairman also announced that, in addition to the 7th edition of Shpageeza Cricket League, Afghanistan Premier League T20 ( APLT20) will be organized soon and launched in a more attractive and glamorous manner.

Concluding his remarks, Mr. Yusefzai reiterated ACB’s commitment to provide the fans with more games of cricket and promised for the next year to be packed with multiple tournaments and competitions.
