Afghanistan’s current ambassador to New Delhi, Mr. Farid Mamundzay has been elected as a board member by H.E President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani replacing senior player Mohammad Nabi.

Mr. Mamundzai is a well-educated and qualified diplomat having served earlier at various high-profile and reputable designations. His portfolio includes appointments such as Political advisor to the National security Council, Advisor to Ministry of Finance in Private sector development, Political affairs advisor to the Ministry of foreign affairs, Finance and Operations Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and as Deputy Minister of Technical & Policy affairs in the Independent Directorate for Local Governance (IDLG).
Mr. Mamundzai’s academic qualifications include a Masters in International Accounting and Finance. He has also served as a professor in American University of Afghanistan.
His appointment as a board member is a step in the right direction as it will help ACB strengthen its bilateral cricketing relations, find sponsors and other important affairs in India, which,in addition to the UAE ,serves as one of the countries where team Afghanistan play their home matches and where Mr. Mamundzai currently serves as the Honorable Ambassador of Afghanistan.

It shall be noted that the decision to relieve senior player Mohammad Nabi from his duties as a Board member was taken considering Afghanistan’s upcoming important and busy international calender where he will play a vital role as the senior-most all-rounder for the National team.
