About Afghanistan Cricket Board:

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is the sole independent governing body for managing, organizing, and developing Cricket (Men and Women) in Afghanistan. The game of cricket was officially established in 1995 in Afghanistan. It was granted affiliate membership by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001, associate membership of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2003, and full membership of the International Cricket Council in June 2017. Afghanistan has its National Cricket Teams playing among the top 10 cricketing countries of the world.

Job Summary:

General Manager Commercial is responsible to develop and implement ACB strategies for integrated Media, Innovative Marketing, and effective Research & Development to meet Afghanistan cricket’s business objectives; The role and the departments supervised by this position are extremely important for the ACB to implement its strategies and meet the requirement of its future vision. Therefore, the holder of this position should have a proactive leadership role and entrepreneurial mindset with great leadership skills and excellent organizational abilities.

He/she should be a creative strategist with being dynamic, innovative, and proactive in seeking out potential opportunities for marketing such as finding sponsors, donors, and other partners, improving ACB relationship with fans, public and external Media, and doing research & development jobs such as conducting surveys, assessments and studies of cricket for the developing ACB business or creating solutions to the problems existing in the organization and or developing/revising policies, SOPs, procedures, concepts, proposals, and any other governing documents. The overall purpose of this position is to promote and expand ACB’s commercial activities, increase its revenue and lead to sustainable growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Marketing and Commercial:

  • Developing and implementing commercial strategies according to ACB goals and objectives
  • Conducting thorough market research and analysis to create detailed business plans to use commercial opportunities (selling ACB rights, sponsorships, partnerships, new business opportunities etc.) efficiently.
  • Understanding the requirements of existing stakeholders (e.g., sponsors, partner, or donors) to ensure their needs are being met and satisfied
  • Consistent contact with potential partners, sponsor, or donors through arranging meetings, follow ups and close the deals.
  • Act to acquire new sponsors, partners, or donors and manage their relationships (new and existing)
  • Collaborate with and coordinate commercial efforts with several teams (marketing, Media, R&D etc.)
  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Monitor performance of commercial department by using key metrics and prepare reports for ACB management
  • Creating techniques to attract prospective stakeholders and keeping the current ones.
  • Keep ACB image and reputation high in the market.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients and other organizations
  • Establish or maintain a potential actual sponsor and donor’s database.
  • Co-ordinate contract negotiations and co-ordinate final contract signing and filing.
  • Ensure that all sponsor and donor benefits are measured against committed outcomes.

Media & Communication:

  • Oversee the day-to-day media liaison needs of the ACB with agreed media protocols.
  • Monitor and analyze media trends.
  • Build strong relationships with key cricket correspondents and journalists
  • Provide media management support and advice to Media department.
  • Oversee the Implementation of cricket awareness plans and activities.
  • Maximizing public support for cricket through effective communication ensuring public interest in cricket.
  • Conduct Survey, research or studies regarding the domestic cricket using new technology methods, in collaboration with R&D unit.

Research & Development:

  • Overseeing the strategic activities of Research & Development department such as conducting surveys, assessments and studies for business development or solutions to the problems
  • Overseeing the developing or revision of policies, SOPs, procedures, concepts, proposals, and any other governing documents.
  • Make sure all efforts of R&D department are promoting and expansion of cricket and ACB’s commercials to increase the revenue of ACB and lead to sustainable growth.
  • Regular and ad-hoc base reporting to the ACB management and other national or international entities ACB deems necessary to report.
  •  Any other job assigned by ACB CEO and or Chairman.

Job Requirement:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, marketing, or relevant fields
  • At least 7 years of experience as commercial director or other similar roles
  • Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients or stakeholders
  • Experience of developing and implementing marketing plans.
  • In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis
  • Proven success in generating revenue through marketing.
  • Experience of working with digital, electronic, and social media marketing tools.
  • Experience of research & development activities such as conducting surveys, studies, and assessments.
  • Experience in development and revising policies, strategies, and other governance documents.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Good at the implementation of strategies
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
